Just go to the loft. I was there on Sunday for the buy one get one free offer (every Friday and Sunday). It was lovely sitting on the roof terrace, good for when they bring the smoking ban in. What is the Powerhouse going to do then? Powerhouse, since it moved (and even when it got to Times Square) has been rubbish. The new club is disgusting, they say they have spent millions on it, like sh*te. Where is the air conditioning? Why are the toilets in the basement or the top floor? There is absolutely no way anyone in a wheelchair can get around either, which completely breaks the Disability Discrimination Law (or whatever it is called can't remember mid rant). I was in there on Saturday and they ran out of lager. How messed up is that? You run a nightclub, you know Saturday is going to be busy, you know the weather has been good bringing people out so guess what, you don't order enough stock. The Powerhouse is only good, it seems to me, for E heads and smack heads, and straight people who generally hang around on the third floor - I'm not tarring everyone who goes on the 3rd floor with that brush just in case someone says anything. Like I have said in the past, Powerhouse has had it's day and it's time someone killed it off. Oh and don't forget the other rule, no drinks on the tacky dance-floor!

i have to agree like, im 25 and started clubbing in the very first powerhouse on waterloo st which was the best out of all, then moved to the others, its so stupid you cant take your drinks on the floor, could you imagine baja or blu bamboo etc doing that people would just laugh. need to get it sorted esp the air con, or else we should tell health and saftey people or whoever would deal with it, need to stop all the straight charver lads as well who are off their nuts on cowies

I hope the management will take full responsibility if someones drink gets spiked.
It goes without saying that you should never leave your drink unattended.

And you know why you should never leave them unattended?
cos they get whipped away and ya have to buy new ones
yet another money spinner
I Also find it strange being warned not to be gay and my self as there are a lot of straights in!!!!
well i never straight money is OK but that means not too much gayness or freedom of expression
The powerhouse is so behind the times.

See, this is quite funny bearin in mind you replied to my post PH BOUNCERS HATE DYKES defendin the club and the bouncers.... yet now yr pissed off with the PH and the staff and the policies - just like me. Just goes to prove that the Powerhouse IS alienating genuine ppl who want to go out and have a good time but not be treated as you have described in this thread and I have described in mine. This is why me and my mates don't go there anymore. Leave it to the straights, charvas and fascist staff/ owners. Maybe you should email Paul Glenn? HA HA HA

Glad to see people are finally waking up to being ripped off.
I was beginning to think ALL Geordie gays and lesbians just lie down and take whatever is shovelled at them by bar owners. Overpricing is bad enough, but the blatant disregard for punters is embarrassing: Crap service, crap facilities and attitude. But for people to feel unsafe in the only SO-CALLED large gay club is unreal. For them not to understand issues of customer safety and comfort just shows that all we are is pound signs to them. but you know what? there are LOADS of really good non-scene bars in the city where being identified as gay/lesbian just isn't an issue also beer is (much) cheaper and staff friendly - who'd have known eh?
At some point someone for PH will tell you that there are health & safety and public order reasons for their actions, but it shows a complete lack of imagination to enforce these rule without addressing reasons why punters go outside or take drinks onto dance floors etc.
I bumped into a couple of guys from Manchester last weekend, they couldn't believe what they found on the scen and said they'd definitely not come back to newcastle.
