Could someone please enlighten me on whats happening on the scene? ?? It seams that the NGS website has not been updated for some time now. Why are FatBoy leisure now getting so behind the times and Pure leisure seam to be taking the lead with regards to keep folk well informed on there venues Through there website. Is there any hope that things will be updated? Are these boards still being moderated? Has it all gone to the dogs and the rest of us just blindly sailing through without the guidance this website has given us? Please Please Please can some one let me know!! hellooooooo Anybody out there? ?............

I have to echo newboi's post: I noticed that Rick leaving the Eagle was "Breaking News" yesterday. Wasn't that about a month ago? Having said that, maybe newboi and/or others might be up for offering regular contributions to the site to keep it topical?

In response to your comments Wildeman, i will do my best.
I tend to visit the scene now and again and honestly don't have the time to live on it but find website a big plus to keep folk informed.
It's such a shame to see something like this site built up and then left to fade away but for a small few.
I shall continue to post comments and chat on here and endeavor to keep life in the Flagging (sadly) NGS (FBL) website

That is excellent news! ;D I really hope you can find some time write some posts. I've always thought it could be great if a few people just started making regular posts on anything that they're into or interested in- like i dunno -local events or places to eat or a venue by venue guide or something.. What's wrong with just sharing opinions about stuff? It doesn't HAVE to be earth-shattering... It might be fun if a couple of cyber divas were "born" - who could comment on and share their experiences of anything from the bear scene to coming out??? It doesn't need much organising, people just need to give it a go - there are only 176 people signed up to the notice board for example, let's get more people involved!

Hey, Wildman, did you get the job that was advertised on the plasma for resident Web Designer?
If so get on with bringing it back up to date. If not shame on you for missing the opportunity.
I think the comparison with the Pure site is so true. Someone there has worked hard to set it up so it can be kept up to date with, it seems, little effort. The NGS site looks like it might have some potential for a Content Management System, or if it does indeed have Content Management then double double shame on those who should be using that to keep ahead, and letting us all know at the very least of the programme of events.

I haven't the first idea about web design ;D ;D I hope someone with a bit of gumption and a lot of ideas gets the job.
As for the Pure site, I spent some time at a mate's yesterday - he was showing off how he could link his comp through his HD TV (flash git) and we visited the Pure site... There was definitely a lot going on: Bright colours and erm... flashing bits etc But when we tried actually READING anything it was... less than edifying.
BTW I'm not particularly interested in getting into the inter-company rivalry: if the NGS site is stagnating, the Pure site is fizzing like a shaken alcopop at the moment and in my opinion. If both buck up their ideas who knows what could happen?

the website, as with any site, can only be updated with what info is given to the updaters. the only part of the whats on section to have been updated in probably the last 6 months is the eagle, as rick was the only person who gave me listings. since he left, nobody from fat boy leisure (eagle) management have given me updated listings.
as for cabaret at the yard, the yard management have never given me any listings of events. gary (ophelia balls) used to provide that, but gary no longer works for fat boy leisure either. if the people who provide info to me leave the company, is it not up to the company to ensure whoever takes over that role continues to provide details to their own website? or is it up to me and the updaters to take on more unpaid roles to fulfil the company's lack of communication skills?
(re the content management system query, incidentally, the site wasnt set up as cms enabled, as it was agreed in advance that info would be provided to me for updating myself..)
aside from the spelling errors throughout the pure leisure site (no disrespect intended), i agree with newboi and wildeman, its a good site. doesnt exactly have a huge amount of factual detail, and obviously caters only for their venues where we aimed to cover all gay venues, but it is a good looking site with plenty of colours and.. to borrow the term from wildeman.. flashy things :-)

Hi Geordieboi
Thanks for putting me in the picture with regards to me questions. It is such a pity that FBL don't provide you with the info to keep this brilliant site up to date after all it's really the only thing at lets it down.
I love what you have done with it and made it so easy to use. I myself couldn't even begin to build a website so my praises are sung for you :-)
I just wish the companies/venues out there put more effort into things to make a better gay scene rather than try to make just a quick fast buck. After all gaydar was nothing and look at now also fit lads.
Internet site are about providing information and enlightenment to there users and if these wonderful web designers/coordinators are kept up to date then in my book it's another buck lost.
Thoughts any one?

Well newboi, I think it is very important that the 'whats on' area is kept up to date and accurate for both people in the area and visitors.
Was in Blackpool last week end and the In The Pink website which was flash, music blearing, pictures, chatboards etc. but did give a lot of general information about what to expect each night in their 6 bars and clubs. But when it came down to which specific DJ, Drag, Stripper or Singer was appearing, information was a bit lacking.
Mardi Gras website just takes you to one page which is a copy of the poster outside listing all events for the month, giving names and times of specific artist, opening times, door charges and details of any drink promotions or happy hours.
Guess where I spent most of the time!!!

I agree, I know its prob hard to keep a site updated but this one seems out of date by a good few months!! I did find a site that was also based on the newcastle gayscene and had free chat rooms on there which was gaysceneonline.co.uk - its got alot of sections but looks like alot is still being added too, doesnt look too bad either quite smart but not to the point its unreadable

Having said that, maybe newboi and/or others might be up for offering regular contributions to the site to keep it topical? I agree wildeman. I may be thick but I think the only advantage of registering is that you can add to or start a thread yet about half of the people registered have yet to make a single post! Whilst I go 'quiet' for a while, when I have a few spare moments I let rip! Hopefully with a balanced mixture of serious and funny comments. Come on you 'virgin' members, get posting, its fun! Al

Well done there Matt
Thanks for the info
Didn't know Fat Boy Leisure own the site?
I thought it was fairly independent with a lot ov input from FBH but it nice to keep being informed differently.
maybe they should advertise the fact of the vacancies on the screen in the Fat Boy venues?
well it would have to be the Yard and the End as when i last visited the eagle all i saw was a swirly screen saver all nite long to the rather loud music at the time.
Unless you are a regular on the scene then you will miss out on good act and turn happening and nites to get folk out ov there flat/houses for a evening of fun and entertainment.
Here's hopeing then that Fat Boy Leisure gets it sorted and stop letting it self down.
Maybe be it a management thing i don't know.
