Bettys & Pride on Tyne are proud to announce the launch of The Art Cafe Projects 2nd exhibition to be held at Bettys Cafe. Erotica, Gender Identity, Sex & Sexuality (Dawn Latimer down and upstairs, Paul Harvey and Joe Segaran upstairs) explores the psyches of 3 lesbian, gay and bisexual artists and their fascination with the above subjects. 4 separate aspects from the Sexuality and Gender Spectrum allows insight into how far contemporary society has come in its tolerance of sexualised imagery and how fast people are to get their 'kit' off in comparison to the subtle titillation of the Victorian era where just the sight of a petticoat hem was enough to warm the loins while simultaneously throwing society into fits of self righteous condemnation of such imagery. Along with this there is the exploration of gender identity. Confronting head-on and bending to the point of rupture the stereotypical understanding of what makes a woman a woman. Finally, a graphic depiction of how art and sex and the experiences of both can melt into one! Enough said!!! This is definitely the exhibition thats going to get the queer and bible bashers hot under the collar!
